Rotary + Art = Filming

I feel like the video at the end of this post sums up the trip. So in short: Our Rotary Club took us to a museum Wednesday and told us to go look at art. We enjoyed it a lot.

the visit of the darling: Wednesday

We woke up and made it to town to town by 11. This is impressive because we are teenagers who just enjoy sleep more than a lot of things.

BUT WE WENT TO THE ZOO!!!
It sounds exciting but it was not my favorite place... it was a learn experience though.
It was on an island on the out skirts of Helsinki. But the thing was it was kinda run down- the cadges had broken glass on a few of them and the animals didn't look the healthiest. We are very fortunate for the zoos back home. It is good to say we have been to the zoo. You should try everything once or twice even. Maybe in the spring time it is better.

there were chickens

the rain forest part was nice

my favorite picture

home for my aussie. she's a cutie

So I was totally sure this was a Wombat but of course I was wrong... bad to be wrong in the Australian area while being with an Aussie. She's done.

how close can I get to the peacock which isn't in a cage

After we needed coffee and a break from the cold. Cafe and art museum always seems like a good answer.

After we met up with Liz and went and shopped for a bit. We accidentally ran into Milly again and Kat at a book shop. Helsinki is small. Really small now. I know most of it.

I am happy I found a book shop with cheaply priced english books.

We went for Ti food and had a night in the city. It was wonderful. Annka and Ella came out with us as well.

We arrived home a bit late but the night was lovely with dinner and just hanging out with theses girls. We are already planning Thanksgiving. Its important for us to have that a lot because we already know it is going to be a hard day for us. Exchange world supports.

Art, History, and more Coffee

Today after school (noon), Sari met me at the platform and we went to helsinki for a day of my favorite hobby- museums.

I am going to post some photos because me rambling on about history is what you guys heard all the time. Butttttt, it was amazing to see the roots of the Finnish culture and helped me understand there current ways. History I think really helps you understand the present.

This was called the Open Air Museum which was a full island of buildings from around finland
There was a long walking bridge that connected the island to the mainland

Fact: I am actually a professional stilt walker #OHC

Restraunt overlooking the Baltic

This reminds me of the pictures Liz shows me for some reason

Famous Finnish Poet's Summer house
Sari qoutes: "He is like, what you say, a drunk"

Phone booth... I knew what it said when I saw it so I was excited

Thinking about starting a selfie + mirror blog?

CHURCHES HAVE THE BEST ART

also best light fixtures

this was there, again making me think hard about everything

more wonderful coffee and apple pie(orrrr thats what they call it)

After this, we took the train to the National Art Museum, to see the Tove Jansson exhibit. She is the most beloved artist in all of Finland. She designed the Mumi character.

more coffee and a lovely aiti

It was a full day, well worth every moment. I love the city even if I can see my breath in the middle of August.
