I had my first, very large language mistake here at camp (loving it here by the way.)
Before I left America I had the idea to learn some finnish- not a large feat right? So as a result my house, truck, and part of my locker at school was labeled in Finnish. I thought it would be okay to use an online translator. I was very much wrong...
Today I needed the light to be turned on in the classroom so I looked at my tutor, signaled, and said "lammas" (what I knew to be lamp) And he just laughed and then all the teachers laughed and made me repeat. I soooon knew something happened.
I then told how everyone at home knew that lammas means lamp. They laughed even harder!!
So moral of the story: finnish is hard
