The Weekend of the Canadian: The Friday
Since Finaland is relatively small and extremely interconnected, it is easy to travel. I had my friend, Claudia, stay with me for the weekend. She is from a district up north but since rotary is awesome and wants us to see as much as we can, we were able to have her come and spend the weekend down here in Helsinki with me.
All of us exchange students just really couch surf. This coming weekend I am traveling up to Tampere and staying with a friend up north. It is a really open and caring community- exchange students.
She arrived Friday around three. I picked her up after school and we walked around Helsinki and then went and had dinner on a near by island. I swear we stopped at every cafe on the way to the island. Once we arrived on the island we explored and found the best place to just sit and talk. Made it back home around 10.30ish.
coffee before we begin of course.
Anna's Rules of Drinking Coffee:
1. if the cafe is new, you must try it out
2. coffee must be black.
3.window seat always. (if the weather permits, outside)
4. drink it slowly and cherish it
I am stunned by life.
Expectations of Exporing: go in every fancy store and imagine having the money to buy it all. try on the dresses you know you can never afford
these little paths ran all around the islands
We came home to a freshly baked pie from my äiti. She is the best lady.
It was so nice to have a girl's night (more like weekend.) We talked about boys to cultural acceptance. We joke about how we are now stuck with each other till the end of time, because that is what rotary does, makes you find the truest of friends in the shortest amount of time. It teaches you to weed through the messes of people to find those who truly have your best interest in their heart. She is one of those.
